The Squishy Programming Kit is a great introduction to soldering and programming. and uses an Arduino. Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for anyone making interactive projects. To easily interface Arduinos with Squishy Circuits, we have created a custom circuit board that sits on the Arduino (this is called a shield).
Once assembled and the code is programmed, two projects are ready to try:
Squishy Sound: The Arduino will output a sound based on the resistance of the dough. The higher the resistance, the higher the pitch.
Squishy RGB LED: The Arduino controls the brightness of the red, green, and blue channels on a LED based on the resistance of dough pieces. This allows users to mix the colors. Essentially, this is a giant pixel!
Users can modify the code, try new things (change the rate the LED blinks based on the dough resistance?!) and continue to expand their circuitry and coding knowledge!
